Lately I experienced something unusual on my ride, my Michelin tires have wear out on one of the tire’s shoulder as below:
From the above image, the wear or damage on the tire clearly indicate that my Toyota Vios suspensions alignment are misaligned.
The event is so happened I was in business trip around Rawang, Selangor. I went to one of the tire shop known as Toyo Tyre, in Rawang. The staff told me that my camber bolts required to replace after they tried to alignment my both front wheels but failed.
They indicate the OEM camber bolts unable to make adjustment to correct back the alignment setting of the car, thus they suggest to replace the adjustable camber bolt for me.
If you are not too sure how the camber bolt affecting the tire setting, below image able to explain well:
Technical, chamber bolts are use to hold the upper control arm to the knuckle assembly on wheel. Adjustable camber bolt has more flexibility to align the wheel to the right angle and position.
Below image is the adjustable camber bolt:
Below is the location where the adjustable camber bolt is installed:
The 2 set of adjustable camber bolts cost me RM120 from the shop:
After they replaced the adjustable camber bolt to my Toyota Vios, they were able to realign my wheels to correct position:
Now I can drive my car with confident without worry my tire thread wear unevenly again.

Hai, your tyre condition same as mine, after you repair the RM120 things, the tyre you didnt replace new ? than how long u keep using the tyre ?
the condition tyre lasted another 2 years LOL..
This because I went to Singapore for job after that, and my parent on and off use my car for short driving….
Now I has completed replaced the tyres to brand new Michelin XM2.
Camber nuts is use to cheat customer without car knowledge and earn big money hehehe.

Hahaahaa… I am too late, their earned my money 🙁
Usually tyre shops sell these camber bolts at a highly inflated price. To be honest, paying rm120 for them is too expensive. Better avoid that shop next time.
The cost for these screw may be less than RM5. Imagine the rip off these tyre shops is making every time they ask a customer to replace them.
Hi CKS,
thanks for drop by and comment to us.
Yea, I have to agree with you. That adjustable camber bolts suppose cost much lesser than RM120. I was out from the town, else I would have survey other Tire shops for the adjustable camber bolt price.
I hope to see you here again, CKS 🙂
