In the last year alone, the automotive industry has made drastic changes and great strides to push for a greener industry. While there are plenty of innovators inspiring this kind of change, it is the Malaysian market that continues to lead the push for a more carbon-neutral country. Well into the 2024 season, there is no denying that the Malaysian market is still leading the way. Just take a look at some of their most impressive EV releases.
BYD Seal
It wouldn’t be hard to imagine the BYD Seal 4-door coupe becoming the go-to EV for families in future years. Not only is it extremely roomy and easily accessible, but the has more than enough power in its single electric motor to deliver a powerful 204 PS along with a peak torque of 310 Nm. All powered by a 61.4 kWh LFP battery offers an impressive range of 460 km per charge. Oh, the dynamic AWD and RWD packages certainly won’t hurt when it comes to traversing Malaysia’s most remote areas.
Toyota bZ4X
As a leading manufacturer for decades, it only makes sense to see a Toyota on the list. It would be more shocking if there wasn’t one. That said, the bZ4X EV was modeled after Subaru’s Solterra and Lexus’s RZ. The FWD drivetrain might be a bit of a disappointment for those with a taste for more exotic adventures, but the 500 km per single charge and peak torque of 266 Nm easily atone.
MG4 Hatchback
Unfortunately, there is no denying that migrating from gasoline to EV requires some sacrifices. MG Car Malaysia announced that their first model will be MG4 hatchback, and it is impressive to say the least. Referred to as the no-compromise EV, it was designed
specifically to bridge the gap between gasoline and EVs. Despite the impressive litany of electronics, the extended range edition offers drivers (520 km) 323 miles. 360-degree parking cameras, satellite navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, and heated front seats are merely just the start of the MG4’s impressive electronics offerings.
Nissan Ariya
Although the Ariya has been spotted proudly traversing Malaysia’s local roads, it was only for testing purposes. EdaranTan Chong Motors, however, are proud to announce they expect that to change. Before 2024 is up, the automotive giant hopes to have both its FWD and AWD in rotation. The AWD package with its dual-motor design cost more upfront, but the splurge is easily justifiable. On a single charge, the innovative design can produce 335 horsepower and 560 Nm for a total driving range of 430 km.
Volkswagen ID.4
Similar to that of Toyota, it would be a true travesty to not see the German manufacturer included in the race for EV dominance. With the ID.4, you’ll find several features that show why Volkswagen has not only been a leader in the automotive industry but will continue to be for years to come, starting with the impressive 0 to 100 kmph in less than 8.5 seconds flat. This certainly is nowhere close to professional racing speeds, but it’s more than encouraging. A maximum of 160 kmph doesn’t hurt either.
