Recently my brother has a bought a new car, Perodua Myvi 1.3 Standard and one of my cousin having her wedding somewhere near KLCC. I was there for few days before the actual wedding day, so I got the opportunity to test drive the car. I took out the purple Perodua Myvi 1.3 Standard for a fun ride around the city.
The new design Perodua Myvi is look much youthful and stylish. The new Myvi come with projector headlamps and it is able to propagate the light more effectively on the road. Stylish and electrical fold able side mirrors help the user to go through a narrow road confidently. The new Perodua Myvi also come with door visors for all its variant which prevent the rain from dropping into car cabin when passengers wanted to wind down the window to get some fresh air.
Once I get into the car and then I started up the car engine. The panel meter then illuminated in beautiful blue color slowly from side then moving toward to the centre MID. That feature is a plus point which make the car more elegance.
The seating come in fabric and the gear knob is on the dashboard that placed exactly like Honda CR-V. The dashboard outlook come with dual tones of colours were great and wrapped with carbon fiber stickers to make the interior even more sportier.
The car equipped with USB feature and the sound channelsfrom 4 speakers at each of the doors. Sound quality wasn’t too bad. Legrooms seem fine for me and I don’t feel cramp inside the car.
I shifted the gear knob from ‘Parking’ to ‘Drive’ mode, and then the car started to roll over. I was impressed by the engine tuning from Perodua.
The car immediately move to the front even though I did not step on the gas pedal yet. I have to step on the break pedal to reduce to car’s speed. Slowly I adapted to the speed and drove the car to the main road. On the road, I driving the car in different type of condition such as harsh acceleration, sharp cornering and sudden breaking but of course with safety first.
The steering wheel is light and Perodua Myvi 1.3 Standard is using Electric Power Steering which able to help reduce on fuel wastage.
On the road, I get to push to car to the max. The car was powerful even though is only 1.3 DVVT, DOHS with EFI engine. Bringing myself alone in the car was never really a burden to this little Perodua Myvi 1.3, in fact Perodua Myvi 1.3 Standard acceleration is more powerful than Toyota Vios and it is very responsive. Thanks to the car’s light chassis.
Safety was never neglected even though this Perodua Myvi 1.3 Standard is not the highest spec in its variant, we still have 2 airbags for front passengers.
Car stability and handling was great. I still able to drive confidently even at speed of 100km/h. But at such speed, the car getting noisier that I have to switch the audio louder in order to listen to the content properly. Sound proof not very good for this variant. Perodua Myvi 1.3 Standard suspension was stiffer if compared to Toyota Vios as the car shake much harder when I passed through road bumpers.
Speed have to reduce to minimal in order to drive through bump without affect the comfort of passenger inside the car.
After all the fun ride, I get to sit again in the car during that night while my brother fetch us to our cousin’s pre-wedding house warming. We notice the projector headlamp wasn’t bright, in fact barely see the light propagate to the road. Even though Perodua Myvi 1.3 Standard has come with projector headlamps, but the bulb brightness is low.
Overall, Perodua Myvi 1.3 Standard is a good compact car especially for young adults and also ladies who just started their career.
The car come with many colorful variant to be choose. As we can see, the available colors of the car body are targeting to young heart adults with colours such as purple, yellow and etc. The car is stylish and sporty as well with beautiful amber illumination on panel meter, creative location of gear knob and youthful looks headlamps. Performance is great for this compact car and give a very good fuel efficiency too.
