DIY Car Detailing with The Best Car Polish and Coating Centre

We are grateful that The Best Car Polish & Coating Centre has allowed us to use their car detailing centre for us to practice our DIY car detailing on my Toyota Vios GT Street. Me and another 2 friends join the fun of car detailing with the Meguiar sales technical from northern region. The Best auto detailing shop is only use the Meguiar, 3M and Soft 99 products for their customers.

While The Best centre is working the auto detailing for the customers, we are working our own DIY car detailing in the shop. Our car detailing journey start with car washing. We using high pressure jet spray to spray off the dirt, and dust around the Toyota Vios GT Street.

Then we wash the car with the Meguiar car wash detergent. The car washing should be start from the top of the car roof, then end at the bottom car. The last parts  of the car that we should washed before we rinse off with water are the car wheels.

The purpose of this wash flow will prevent the dirt from the bottom side side of the car scratch the car body when we washing the car body.

After we rinsed off the detergent together with the dirt on the car body, we proceed to dry off the water from the car.

The next step is the car polishing. Before we can begin the car polish, we need to cover the rubber and plastics parts with masking tapes. This is to prevent us from accidentally polished the parts. There will be white stain on the parts if it was polished.

There are various cutting compound (polish compound) from Meguiar, and we are demonstrated by the Chee Lun (Meguiar sales technical) on the polishing techniques.

Depending on how severe the vehicle body paint is, different cutting compound gives us different result to the car paint. The higher the value (M – 205), the finer the sanding cutting compound. Fine sanding cutting compound is use to polish fine scratch mark and swirl marks on the car body paint.

Since my Toyota Vios is hardly send for polishing, we use the M-105, then only we proceed to use the finer cutting compound, 205.

We proceed to apply the Meguiar cutting compound of the pad with the polish machine.

The compound should be applied on pad with some free space between to the edge of the pad, this is to prevent the compound from flying around when the pad is spinning by the polish machine.

Put the pad on the car body surface, ensure the pad is firm and straight to the car body and start operate the polish machine.

Chee Lun put the masking tape between the hood to show us the different between the 2 cutting compound after we polished with different Meguiar polishing compounds.

There are many type of deep and wide scratches, fine scratches and swirl marks around the car body paint. Polish the body paint with different cutting compound will ensure the scratches and swirl marks are removed effectively.

During the polishing on the car body paint, the polisher must look on those scratches and marks are remove effective. Over polish might damage the body paint.

Now we proceed to polish and wax the whole car…

Once we are done with the polish, we go for car wax. Here we are done! The shinning Toyota Vios GT Street:
