There are various reasons for deciding to clean your own car. You save money, you know nothing will go missing or be damaged, and you feel a sense of accomplishment afterwards. But if you’re the type of person who has always stuck to having their car cleaned instead of cleaning their car, you may be kind of lost when it comes to where to start, what you’ll need and how to do it. In this post, we’ll be guiding you through the process, from before your wash until after you’re done.
Snow foam
If you’ve ever seen a picture of a car covered in snow foam, you’ll know where it got its name. Essentially, it looks like a thick layer of snow – or foam – covering a car. Now, many people thing that snow foam is a type of car shampoo. It isn’t. Snow foam is essentially a prewash, making it easier for you to clean your car, as well as enhancing the effects of cleaning your car. Snow foam washes away any initial dirt on the surface level, leaving you to get into the nitty gritty parts of cleaning. You can get snow foam from Jennychem to try it yourself, and you may just be surprised at the results.
Clean
Now that we’ve covered the prepping, let’s get to the actual cleaning. This is pretty straightforward: you grab your car cleaning kit, load your sponge or mitts up with car shampoo, and get scrubbing. Be sure to hose the car down properly, and don’t forget about the windows. If you want to go the extra step, you can clean the inside of your car as well. This is pretty similar to cleaning your house and furniture, and you can use the same equipment (a vacuum, duster, and old cloth). We would recommend you wear old clothes, though.
Tires
I’m sure that many people have spent a good long time cleaning their car, only to realize the next day that they forgot a crucial part – the tires. While your tires will be cleaned to some extent by the shampoo and water running down your car, it’s worth taking the extra time to really clean your tires. Having a clean car and dirty tires – especially if your tires have custom rims – just looks sloppy and out of place. Wash your tires and even add some tire shine if you feel the need.
Make it shine
Your car will likely look much better after a wash, but you probably want it to look amazing. This is where we get into what happens after a car has been washed. How do professional car washers achieve that shine? The answers are wax and polish. These aren’t the same, but both have their own role in adding shine. You can use wax on its own, but it’s not advisable to use polish without using wax, as polish can be damaging to your car’s paint job. Applying wax before using polish will give your car an extra layer of protection while still helping you achieve that shine.
