Recently I’ve earned some extra ringgit from the stock market and I decided to reward myself with a new toy, Philips Underseat Car Active Subwoofer CSM1000/00 that cost me RM730 including the RCA cables from the car accessories shop. I’ve installed the car active subwoofer into my GT Street Toyota Vios.
Initially I would like to DIY to install this Philips Car Active Subwoofer CSM1000/00 by myself, but I realized the installation process is quite complex and time consuming, as it would take me one whole day time for the installation. So I decided to let the car accessories shop worker do the installation for me instead.
I’ve captured the photos of the installation steps.
There are 2 major items required to be removed :
a) USB/CD player from the Toyota Vios dashboard
b) Driver seat
Remove the USB/CD player from the Toyota Vios Dashboard
Step 1: Remove the V-panel dashboard and top board from Toyota Vios dashboard:
Step 2: Loosen up the air conditioner vent panel.
Step 3: Remove the 4 screws that are attached to the USB/CD player.
Step 4: Take out the USB/CD player and connect the RCA cables from the USB/CD player to the Philips Active Subwoofer.
Step 5: Now we are going to connect the RCA cables to the Philips Active Subwoofer. Before that, we need to remove the driver seat to set up the wiring.

Step 6: Remove the driver seat by unscrewing the 4 nuts that attaching the seat to the car’s floor. The nuts are tightened with by the manufacturer and are very tight. The spend some time on removing the 4 nuts.
Step 7: Next, connect the RCA cables to the Philips Active Subwoofer and perform some wire dressing under the driver seat.
Step 8: Connect the Power cable from the Philips Active Subwoofer to the car battery.
Step 9: Test out the Philips Active Subwoofer to ensure that everything is working.
Step 10: Install back the driver seat and the panel dashboard.
Good effect! The bass effect is strong and exceed my expectation. The whole Toyota Vios is ‘shaking’ when the bass sound is playing. Now I love my car even more!

Looks good! Am browsing for an active sub as well. How’s yours so far? Care to give a mini review about this sub? Maybe some comparison to other active subs like steelmate etc, if you’ve had such experiences of course.
Hi Izlan,
thanks for drop by! This active subwoofer is impressive! It able to provide solid bass sound with wide ranging (50Hz to 125Hz) and the sound is really able to shake the whole car!
I can’t really compared this active subs to other sub because I never use other brand before, but I do sit my friends car with MBQ active sub, obviously the sound is not solid and crystal clear as my active subs. Anyhow, there is other factor affect this sound quality too especially the Head Unit (Player) that you are using!
This active subs with 550W definitely produce much stronger and deeper bass if compared to normal active subs.
I hope I helped you, let me know if you want to to know more 🙂
