Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium Test Drive Story in Penang
In the one sunny weekend, my friend let me test drive her family’s all new Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium that just bought less than 2 weeks. We were going to get the car tinted meanwhile I get to drive the car!
The first luxury feature of the Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium which I experienced was the car keyless feature. The keyless feature works as when we slide our fingers behind the door handle, as though we’re going to open the door, the car will unlock by itself.
To lock the door, slide our thumb or finger over the motion sensor on the handle. All that can be done without taking the remote key out from our pocket.
Inside the car, Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium comes with luxury beige leather seats with heating function and the Driver Power Seat Adjusts 6 Ways.
The heating function is only for the front seats and the electronic seat adjustment is only available for the driver. The driver seat is much more spacious than my Toyota Vios seat as well. Oh I forgotten, I am comparing C-segment car with B-segment car…
Then we proceed to get the car started. Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium’s engine ramp up when I pressed the Push Start button that is located on the left side of steering while holding my right feet on the brake pedal.
The engine started and engine’s noise was well insulated, we barely heard the external noise from inside of the car’s cabin.
Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium is furnished with a luxuriously designed dashboard which is dual toned, beige and dark grey colours, and is packed with Sony MP3, CD Indash with 9 speakers with Auxiliary Port, Bluetooth® & Voice Command (SYNCTM) with USB, IPod and AUX Port.
I got to fiddle with the Sony player and the sound is great in clarity and the bass is solid as well. 9 speakers are sufficient to provide a great solid surround sound system in the Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium. I enjoyed every beat of the music inside the car.
Not to mention, Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium comes with Automatic Air Condition with Dual Climate Control with a powerful fan blower that easily cools down the whole cabin in short time.
After I explored everything inside the Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium, then it was time for me to drive the car.
I shifted the gear knob to ‘Drive’ mode with my right foot is putting on the gas pedal and the car started to move to direction that I am heading.
The Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium’s engine torque is very well tuned, the acceleration of the car can be easily control precisely without sudden surge of acceleration just like my Toyota Vios.
Even though there is no surge of acceleration, but the Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium powered by 2.0L Petrol Direct Injection I-4 DOHC 16V, Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT) which delivers Maximum Power (170 Ps (kW)/ 6500rpm) and Maximum Torque Nm (202 kg.m)/ 4450rpm) combined with Powershift® 6 Speed Dual Clutch Automatic is powerful enough for this C-segment car.
Once I got a clear stretch ahead on the front highway, I tried to floor the car’s accelerator and the incredible power of Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium could be felt immediately, with the G-force pulling gravity immediately pulling my body back to the seat.
Based on my own judgement, the Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium’s acceleration from lower speed speed (40-60km/h) is more powerful than Toyota Camry 2.0G but I am still pretty sure Peugeot 408 Turbo still dominates in the C-Segment class in performance category.
Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium provides smooth gear changing throughout our driving journey. We barely felt the gear changing and I did try out the ‘Sport’ mode once, the mode gives higher power to the car by ramping up the RPM before switch to next higher gear. Overtaking on the road with Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium doesn’t take any effort from the car.
The Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium provides a comfortable and stable driving experience with Macpherson Strut at the front suspension and Control Blade™ Independent Rear on the rear suspension.
Driving Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium through potholes and bumps doesn’t really shake up the whole car and we were so comfortable inside. In fact, the soundproofing of the car is awesome too, we hardly heard any noise from outside. I didn’t have the opportunity to perform any sharp turning at sharp corner on the road, thus I can’t discuss about the handling of the car.
Oh yea, not to forget the car equipped with Electric Motor Driven Power Steering (EPAS). The steering is light weight at slow speeds and gets heavier during driving the car at higher speed.
The Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium has the unique light button position which is located at the right side of the steering. It looks clean and neat.
The car comes with Active Grille Shutter which helps to decrease wind resistance. Its Active Shutter Grille system automatically opens and closes the lower grille to control the amount of air going into the engine compartment thus reducing drag and improves fuel consumption of the car.
The reason my friend’s family bought this Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium is because of the great safety features.
The car comes with Electronic Stability Programme (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Launch Assist (HLA), ABS with EBD, Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), EPATS with Immobilizer (Electronic Passive Anti Theft Alarm System), Collapsible Steering Column, Anti Intrusion Pedals, and 4 air bags.
Overall, the Ford Focus 2.0L Titanium is a powerful, spacious, equipped with advanced safety features and refined with elegance outlook. Pricing on the road is RM115,903.30 It’s definitely worth it’s price.
