How to do Parallel Park Like Pro (For Beginner) – Driving Course

Admit it, parallel parking is the most difficult parking skill to master as compare to perpendicular parking and reverse parking. It required different angel coordination, multitask with right steering turning along the way.

It is advisable to start to practice with smaller vehicle like B-segment cars before move to bigger vehicle like SUV or MPV.

The procedures of parallel parking with small vehicles are exactly the same as bigger vehicles.

How to do Parallel Parking

  1. Identify the appropriate side parking spot.
  2. Drive your car to side by side of the front vehicle that you are going to park but leave the your slightly offset the front car. Use your rear window frame as guide.
  3. Start engage “Reverse” gear, while turning your steering all the way to the direction of the car park.
  4. While your right foot stepping on the “Brake” pedal, slowly release your “Brake” and still in control move.
  5. Check on your side mirror if your rear part of your vehicle has cross the center point, or plate number of the rear vehicle.
  6. Once the rear part of the vehicle hit to the center point of behind car, start turning your steering back to straight line and continue to reverse your vehicle into the slot. This position should be just a while, soon you need to turn your steering all the way to the other round.
  7. Right after the you see the other side of headlamp in the vehicle from your side mirror, turn your steering all the way to the other side to finish off your parking in the lot.
  8. Now your vehicle should be within the lot itself, and next thing you have to do is the readjust the position at the vehicle to look neat and professional.
  9. Start engage the “Drive” mode, and turn your steering back the other way round to re-adjust the position of the vehicle while your right foot on the “Brake” pedal to control the move of the car.
  10. Complete your parallel parking with put the gear position in “Park” mode, and pull your handbrake.
