Due to the rapid expansion in the automobile sector, India has emerged as the new hot spot for both the car manufacturers. Two of the leading brands that are cashing big time on the Indian growth story are Mahindra and Ford. In terms of market share, these automobile giants command a whopping 7.5 and 2.71 percent of the Indian market respectively. This makes Mahindra the third largest car brand in India with Ford ranking closer by at the eighth spot.
Now that you have read through the statistical numbo-jumbo, let’s get down to our favorite business and compare two of the most celebrated car models by these automobile leaders: The Mahindra TUV300 and the Ford EcoSport.
Given the dissimilarities between these two cars, it is natural to question our intellect in choosing these for a comparison in the first place! We really can’t blame you here. However, if you care to observe closely both the cars have something in common – they’re both sub-compact SUVs and fall into a similar price bracket.
Mahindra TUV300 vs Ford EcoSport:
Both Mahindra TUV300 and Ford EcoSport have their own USPs and it is not easy to declare a clear winner here. While TUV300 certainly scores with its sturdy appearance, the EcoSport offers unparalleled performance and driving dynamics.
In terms of space, Mahindra TUV300 is bigger than the EcoSport. The bigger dimensions translate into more cabin space. The availability of extra legroom in both the first and second rows adds to the comfort of the car. On the other hand, EcoSport offers a Sedan like experience with comfortable seats and good thigh support.
With regards to seating capacity, TUV300 is a 7 seater car as against EcoSport which offers 5 seats. However, make note of the fact that the two extra seats at the rear in TUV300 can be real jumpy. The fact that you seat really close to the door makes this even worse. So, you see, bigger is NOT always better!
As far as features are concerned, both cars come with the usual packaging – Bluetooth, USB and even Aux-In. However, the EcoSport offers some additional features like the SYN system with voice commands, and an emergency assistance and APP-link. There’s even an automatic system for climate control. But then, Ford is more expensive than the TUV300. As they say, there are no free lunches in this world!
Coming to the most important feature of a car- the engines, both cars are equipped with 1.5 litre diesel engines. However, the EcoSport has 4 cylinders whereas the TUV300 only has 3. The EcoSport also comes with 99bhp as compared to the 84bhp in the TUV300. But then, the latter has more torque on offer – 230Nm as compared to 205Nm in the former.
In terms of speed, it goes without saying that EcoSport is the faster of the two. This speed is due to the power that EcoSport offers, and certainly due to its lighter weight than the TUV300. However, one great quality with TUV is that you have to deal with less of gear changes. This car allows you to put it in the third gear and pull from 20km/h to about 80km/h.
Well, beyond all specifications, price constitutes the most important criterion while you decide to purchase a car. To make the festive season happier for you, the market is abound with several offers on cars. This will allow you to get your favorite car at the best prices.
So you see, both cars have their own advantages. Mahindra’s TUV300 is spacious, has more seating capacity and allows you a more SUV feel at the end of the day. On the other hand, Ford EcoSport has better fuel efficiency, comes with more features and gives a better luxury feel.
While the debate between these cars continues to remain as unsettled as ever, you can now make an informed decision and choose the best car for yourself!
