6 Tips To Get Your Golf Cart In Tip-Top Shape

Buying an electric cart can be revolutionary for avid golfers. It’s a fun lifestyle change for those living in a low-speed environment. However, without proper care, golf carts can easily fall into disrepair.

These vehicles need regular maintenance, whether you use it daily or not. Your maintenance schedule will differ slightly from others depending on the model you purchase, how often you use it, and what you use it for. The following are six tips and tricks to ensure that your golf cart always operates like new.

1. Routine Inspections

Every now and then, test your steering and brakes. Take note if your brakes grab when you use them or your steering seems loose.

If you notice anything like these malfunctions while you’re driving, seek attention from an authorized service center. If you observe that your cart pulls one way or the tires squeal when braking, you probably need to check the tire pressure.

2. Check The Tires

One of the parts that need the most maintenance is your tires. Your golf cart needs to have tires with well-balanced pressure. This will save you time in the long run from fast wear and tear. It will make your electric cart safer while you’re out on the green or the road.

3. Keep the Battery Charged

Another extremely important part of your golf cart is your battery. You should charge the battery every time you take the cart out, even after a short drive. Many models of batteries are built to automatically shut off when the battery is completely charged. It’s best to keep the charger connected whenever you have your vehicle parked.

The quality of charge you get depends on the type of battery charger you invest in, so be sure to check out the best battery chargers for golf carts. Leaving your battery even partially discharged for an extended period of time can cause major damage.

4. Maintain Water Levels in Battery

Keeping your battery’s water levels up will extend the life of your cart exponentially. When you have your battery fully charged, with the water level at its highest points, pop off the caps. Fill each cell until the water level is between ?” to ¼” below the neck that protrudes within the cell.

Remember to never look directly over the cell while the battery is charging to avoid facing fumes from sulfuric acid. To make things easier and more controlled, have a designated water level turkey baster nearby. This tool will allow you to carefully remove and dispose of excess water if you have any. Do not try to operate or charge your vehicle if it has an overfilled battery.

5. Clean Battery Terminal Connections

Do your best to keep corrosion off of your battery’s terminal connections. To clean these parts use a combination of water and baking soda. Keep the caps for your battery cells on when both cleaning and charging to avoid getting debris and dirt inside.

While doing this maintenance, check to see if your connectors are over-tightened or loose. If you notice these signs or any indication of leakage, contact the dealer before you operate or charge your electric cart.

6.  Proper Loading The Cart

If you’re planning to take your golf cart with you, be sure to secure your vehicle so that it remains safe and takes no damage.

Inventions like long ramps allow you to get your cart into your vehicle at a safe angle, reducing the risk of flipping. There are also side walls that can help guide it up the ramp to stop it from driving off the side. These devices ensure that no scuffs or bumps will befall your vehicle.

I love that you talked that even after a short drive, you must charge the battery every time. Last week, my brother told me that he was looking for a golf cart that he would use for our family gathering, and he asked if I had any idea what could be the most suitable option. Thanks to this informative article, I’ll be sure to consult a trusted golf cart service as they can help us provide more information about their rental services.
