1. Ensure That You Carry the Right Tools With You
Of course, the cost of owning an RV might make you feel like it should need no maintenance or upkeep. And usually, it shouldn’t.
But it’s always a good idea to carry a set of essential tools with you, in case it does break down in the middle of nowhere. A tire gauge (to check tire pressure) and a 4-way wrench set to tighten bolts are a good start.
2. Don’t Forget About Leveling
When you pull into your camping site at the end of a long traveling day, there’s nothing you would rather do than flop into bed and fall asleep. But before that, ensure that you put your RV on leveling blocks.
Some RVs do have automatic leveling systems, but others do need to get leveled manually. Leveling prevents your RV from shifting in the night.
3. Even the Toilet Paper You Use Has To Be Different
Did you know that you can’t use regular toilet paper in your RV? Your RV’s sewage system isn’t capable of handling regular toilet paper. Luckily enough, it’s easy to buy RV-friendly toilet paper that disintegrates easily and quickly.
4. Learn About Boondocking
If you planned your route right, you won’t have to worry about boondocking. But let’s be honest. There will be times when your plans fall to the wayside, and you have to improvise.
Boondocking is when you set up your RV in the middle of nowhere without any RV hookups. This could be in the wilderness somewhere, or even in a large Walmart parking lot.
5. Remember To Store Your RV Well When Not in Use
You won’t be using your RV all year round, even if you want to assuage the cost of owning an RV.
