5 Luxury Cars That Are Kid-Friendly

Is there anything tougher on cars than kids? From sandy toes and sports equipment to sneaky snacks and spilled drinks, kids are car-wreckers by nature—but hope is not lost. With a few simple rules in place, your car can still be your haven. Think you can’t own a luxury vehicle that will handle your mini-mes? Think again! Having kids shouldn’t stop you from riding in a nice set of wheels. If you’re going to chauffeur all day around town, you might as well do it in style. Read on for five kid-friendly luxury cars that the whole family can enjoy.

1. 2018 Infiniti QX60

You’ll find that this SUV has more than enough legroom in its seven person-capacity cabin. As for kid-friendliness, this US News article notes that it has “second-row seats that slide and recline, even when a child safety seat is clipped in.” Imagine that for your next road trip! And if you’ve hated installing car seats in your previous cars, you’ll love that Infiniti QX60 comes with two sets of lower anchors that require almost no force to clip the seats into place. It also has four tether anchors—three in the middle row and one in the last row.

There are plenty of upgrades that will please the whole family, including climate-controlled front seats and tri-zone automatic climate control, so no one has to fight over the A/C anymore. A rear entertainment system will keep kiddos occupied on long drives and a built-in Wi-Fi hot spot allows everyone to stay connected between commutes.

As for aesthetics, it’s hard to find something more stylish in this price range. With leather seats and interior wood trimmings, your car will turn heads as you drive around town.

2. Audi Q7 SUV

From the outside, no one would think this was a family-friendly vehicle; it just looks too luxurious to believe that it can handle crazy kids. The interior, however, is a major game changer. Peak inside the Audi Q7 SUV in Las Vegas and you’ll see that this spacious vehicle will make dramatic improvements on your next family road trip. As Forbes contributor Jaclyn Trop noted of her experience taking the Audi Q7 on a long drive, “For all its power, the front-engine, Quattro all-wheel drive Q7 is not about brute force. It steered elegantly, parked with grace, and—to my unnecessary consternation—boarded a ferry across Lake St. Clair to my Harsens Island destination like it was no big deal.” Fashion and family-friendliness do not have to be mutually exclusive, and this SUV proves it.

3. 2018 Acura MDX

While this might not be the most spacious family-oriented SUVs (can seat six or seven with fairly tight third row seating), it’s probably one of the most reasonably priced in terms of luxury and value. In addition to its Five-Star safety rating, other features the family will love in the Acura MDX include: tri-zone automatic climate control, rear sunshades, and heated rear seats. Equipped with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a rear seat entertainment system, the only dispute in this car will be over who gets to DJ.

4. Land Rover Discovery

Let’s face it—some of us have trouble parting with our pre-parent “cool” image. If you can relate, the Land Rover Discovery is for you. It’s not as good at off-roading as others in the Rover family, but if you’re looking for a sleek, luxury vehicle for the family, off-roading adventures probably aren’t at the top of your priority list. It does, however, boast a massive tow capacity (up to 8,201 lbs) so you can haul all your favorite toys on your next vacation. Shop Land Rovers in California and tow your boat to the bay or hitch on the trailer to load up the dirt bikes. When you consider the spacious interior decked out with all the bells and whistles (at a more approachable price than other Rovers), this is the perfect compromise car.

5. Porsche Panamera

Now the Porsche Panamera isn’t nearly as big as the other cars mentioned, but it will perfectly fit a family of four and satisfy any true Porsche lover who becomes a parent. As for what makes it a good family vehicle, it has a huge luggage compartment for your next family trip, the Isofix fitting in the back seat comes standard, and it has what are widely considered to be state-of-the-art safety and assistance systems. One look at the chic, futuristic dashboard and any parent will be sold.

Driving a mini-van isn’t a built-in parental requirement—not that there’s anything wrong with that! But for those who want a bit of luxury as they tackle their day-to-day driving, you’ll be over the moon for any of these family-friendly options.
