Do It Yourself (DIY): Replacement for Toyota Vios’s Gear Panel Bulb
The bulb for gear panel is: T5
Here is the Procedure:
First, remove just the bottom V panel.
Gently remove the casing by lifting it up the clip.
Switch your gear to ‘N’, you don’t need to start your car for this. If you don’t know how, press and hold on the button as shown and switch your gear to ‘N’.
Pull up clip by clip, don’t force it else the clip will be damaged; there are about 4 clips in every corner, lift up 1 by 1.
Remove all 4 clips in the circle. Here’s the trick, the reason I put to ‘N’ gear is to allow me to remove the front panel easily. Steps are as follows,
Remove clips > shift to ‘N’ or ‘D’ > pull up the front panel up > shift to ‘R’ or remain as ‘N’ > pull the rear panel up
This process may be a tough job but once you understand how it is installed, you can take it out in seconds.
Once the gear panel is removed, you can spot the bulb. Pull it up and replace it. If you can’t pull it out, try using a plier and clip it out carefully, don’t break the bulb.
Test them out, turn on your car light will do.

Hi there,
I was wondering whether you could help me on replacing the gear panel bulb on a 2003 Vios 1.5E (first model). I manage to replace all my bulbs at the instrument panel, and aircond with success, but not on the gear panel. I have difficulty removing the gear panel and accessing the bulb. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Regards,
Sol
Hi Sol,
thanks for drop by.
I am unable to help you on this, as even myself never change the gear panel’s bulb. This DIY are done by Henry, instead of me.
